Classical Guitar Tabs on MXTabs.net

Monday, September 13th, 2010

While writing our recent post about The 25 Most Popular Guitar Tabs on MXTabs.net, one thing that stood out to us was that 3 of our 25 most popular tabs are transcriptions of famous classical songs, such as Johann Pachelbel’s Canon In D.

In lieu of this “discovery” (and because we like to boast of our diverse collection of tabs), today we’d like to highlight some of the many exceptional Classical Guitar Tabs on MXTabs.net. Many of the tabs by the composers listed below you’ve heard before, even if you don’t immediately recognize the title. Furthermore, many accomplished guitarists will tell you that if you can successfully master the likes of Johann Sebastian Bach’s 1st Suite For Cello, then you can master almost any song on the guitar, regardless of style. So… good luck and happy practicing!

  1. Johann Sebastian Bach Guitar Tabs
  2. Ludwig van Beethoven Guitar Tabs
  3. Frederic Chopin Guitar Tabs
  4. Edward Elgar Guitar Tabs
  5. Edvard Grieg Guitar Tabs
  6. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Guitar Tabs
  7. Johann Pachelbel Guitar Tabs
  8. Sergei Rachmaninoff Guitar Tabs
  9. Peter Tchaikovsky Guitar Tabs
  10. Antonio Vivaldi Guitar Tabs

Also, please consider submitting a classical guitar tab to the MXTabs.net tab database. Because most classical songs are in the public domain, MXTabs.net can put these directly into Limbo and display them worldwide. Thanks!

Sheriff Picks: Guitar Tab of Songs with Common Expressions and Sayings as Titles

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

sherrif-icon1Last weekend, in a desperate attempt to make cleaning my apartment more enjoyable, I put on my headphones, set my iPod to shuffle, and began my chores.

For some reason, the first three songs I heard that day – Radiohead’s In Limbo, Wilco’s Pot Kettle Black, and Elliott Smith’s Needle In The Hay – struck me as being peculiarly similar to one another. At first I couldn’t quite discern why they seemed related (were the cleaning fumes getting to me already?), but then it hit me: all three songs had titles that are common expressions and sayings in the English language.

Thus began a two-hour game of me trying to think of more Songs with Common Expressions and Sayings as Titles. Not only did this little game help pass the time and result in a miraculously clean apartment, but it also laid the foundation for this blog post and the 25 songs listed below. I hope you enjoy these fruits of my labor:

(Get Off Your) High Horse Lady Oasis Guitar
A Shot Below The Belt August Burns Red Guitar/Bass

What other songs have a title that is a common expression or saying? List your suggestion(s) below. If MXTabs.net has a guitar, bass and/or drum tab for it, we’ll add it to the list. Thanks!
