It should come as no surprise that many MXers write, perform, and record their own music, either individually or as part of a band.

Below are five MXTabs members who were gracious enough to let us share their music on our blog. Underneath each MXTabs Username you will find a link to where you can listen to their music – MySpace, Facebook, SoundCloud – as well as a list of their musical influences. If you’d like, you can view guitar, bass & drum tabs of the bands and artists who have influenced them by clicking on the band name.

Doomsayer

Influences: Carniflex, Lamb Of God, All Shall Perish, Darkest Hour

Doomsayer, one of our longtime members, is a lead and rhythm guitar player currently in between bands. The recordings on his MySpace page were recorded straight from his amp to his PC, so they’re a bit raw (his words, not mine!), but they clearly demonstrate his incredible shredding technique.

Influences: The Fall Of Troy, Muse, Minus The Bear, Tool

MXTabs member wtfninja is the bass player in the Idaho-based band “Forfeit the Sun.” Aside from the bands listed listed above, wtfninja also states that the group is heavily influenced by “beer, flannel shirts, pinstripe shirts and yogurt cups.”

the noonward race

Influences: John McLaughlin, Steve Reich

the noonward race uses his guitar and his computer to create highly original songs that mix elements of fusion, funk, and electronica. Apparently, he also enjoys “short bios,” so in keeping with his wishes that’s all I’ll say about him!

Influences: ISIS, Tool, Neurosis, Russian Circles, Deftones

Ror3h plays guitar for the Manchester, England-based metal band “The Construct.” In describing the band’s music, Ror3h states: “I’ve always loved music that has an atmosphere, and leaves some kind of imagery in your head, and I try to do that through the music I write. With this band I’ve tried to strip back any unnecessary technical parts, and focus purely on the song and where it takes the listener.”

As you might guess by his varied list of musical influences, kingofstrings721 (who is also an avid photographer), writes eclectic and captivating songs with a penchant for originality. He would like it to be known that most of the songs on his SoundCloud page are unrefined and half-finished projects.
